Breathing Is Happening is an Applied Zen Dharma talk exploring the surprising connection between Thich Nhat Hanh’s teaching of interbeing and Neil deGrasse Tyson’s reflections on the elements that make up both life and the universe. From a simple sheet of paper to the stars that formed the matter in our bodies, the talk looks at how Zen Buddhism, mindfulness, astrophysics, interdependence, and the cosmic perspective can point toward the same basic truth: nothing exists entirely on its own. The talk ultimately returns to the simplest place we can experience that connection, the breath. This post includes the video of the Dharma talk, presentation slides, and supporting material from Enlightened Life Fellowship’s Applied Zen gathering in Colorado Springs.
